Jessica Simpson may be taking over for Simon Cowell on American Idol.  She’s reportedly had several meetings with AI bosses to discuss joining the judging table on the show.  Idol is expected to make an official announcement around the beginning of September.

President Barack Obama will be on The View this Thursday, making him the first sitting United States president to appear on a daytime talk show.  They’ll have a political discussion about his administration accomplishments, jobs, the economy, the Gulf oil spill and his family life.  The show is being pre-taped tomorrow.

Diddy is being fined almost $1 million by New York City for illegally putting up promotional posters around the city.  Finance commissioner David Frankel says: “We are going to find these people.
